Food safety notice

Caducity helps you remember dates. It can't tell you whether a food is safe to eat.

Version 1 · 12 October 2026 · It is the same version you accept in the app

Before eating anything, check the label, how it was stored and what state it is in.

If in doubt, don't eat it.

What Caducity does

  • It reminds you of the dates you entered.
  • It sorts what you have by when it expires.
  • It notifies you once a day, if you turn it on.

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't check the real state of any food.
  • It doesn't guarantee anything is safe to eat.
  • It isn't medical, nutritional or allergy advice.

1. You enter the dates

The app doesn't verify dates. If you enter one wrong, the status you see will be wrong too.

2. Statuses are indicative

Expired, Soon, Fresh and Frozen are calculated only from the date and the margin you configured. A “Fresh” product isn't necessarily fine.

  • Expired
  • Soon
  • Fresh
  • Frozen

3. Two different dates

Use by dateIndicates until when it is safe to eat. After the date, don't eat it.
Best beforeIndicates until when it keeps its quality. Afterwards it may lose taste or texture.

An opened, poorly stored or thawed product can spoil before any date. Check the smell, the look and whether the packaging is bloated.

4. Frozen doesn't mean forever

Marking a product as frozen doesn't guarantee indefinite preservation or that it is safe once thawed. Follow the packaging instructions.

5. Allergies and people at risk

The app has no allergen or ingredient information. If you cook for pregnant women, children, older adults or people with weakened immune systems, follow a healthcare professional's advice.

6. Reminders can fail

The daily notification may not arrive if you denied the permission, if battery saver blocks it or if the phone is off. Don't use it as your only check.

7. Data can be lost

If you uninstall the app or change phones without a backup, you lose your data. Make a backup from Settings.

8. Liability

Caducity is provided as is. You alone are responsible for deciding what you consume. The developers accept no liability for any harm arising from eating food, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

How you accept it

The app shows you a summary the first time you open it and asks you to accept it. If we change this notice, we'll ask you again.
